Welcome to "OCAAM" at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

The Old Catholic and Anglican Airport Ministry (OCAAM) is the sponsoring agency for Anglican and Old Catholic participation in the chaplaincy of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of the world's busiest airports. The foundation, a registered charity in the Netherlands, is under the episcopal oversight of the Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe, of the Church of England and of the Old Catholic Bishop of Haarlem.

Airport chaplaincies represent the church at the heart of modern travel and communications. Within the dynamic flow of thousands of people coming and going, chaplains are available to assist and to guide - to help find the way forward, to lend a listening ear and to pray.

The OCAAM operates in ecumenical partnership with ministers from the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Church of The Netherlands within the Airport Chaplaincy (Luchthavenpastoraat Schiphol).

OCAAM Vision and Mission

  • Our vision is, that in an ever more transient world, where globalization is increasing and more and more people are traveling all over the world, the Church needs to be recognized as a beacon, on which people in whatever circumstances can trust and rely.

  • The mission for OCAAM is for all employees, visitors and travellers at Schiphol Airport, to experience the presence of pastoral care and help through the involvement of the Old Catholic and Anglican Churches; we aim for there to be a place for reflection, where everyone who wishes can pray, meditate and get help.

Partnering with OCAAM

Church of England ministries in continental Europe are largely self-supporting, as was the case of the Anglican Airport Ministry. Since the start of 2011, the Old Catholic Church in The Netherlands participates in the running of this ministry. The airport authority provides most of the operating costs of the chaplaincy, but the chaplains' salaries and maintenance, plus the foundation's operational expenses, must be provided by supporting churches, trusts, societies and interested individuals.

As there is no permanent Anglican congregation or an Old Catholic parish at the airport to support the chaplaincy, and no central Anglican funds in The Netherlands to draw from, outside sponsors are needed to ensure the continuance of this ministry. We are blessed with the generous support of the Old Catholic church in The Netherlands and Christ Church Amsterdam. OCAAM receives a number of committed pledges, but we are still in need of new financial partners.

Donations may be given directly through the foundation's bank account, and are tax-deductible for Dutch donors.  If you are a resident of the Netherlands, please contact the the OCAAM Treasurer via our Contact Form for the most tax-efficient way of giving.
